Thousands of scientists, engineers, and students are engaged in research and development efforts ranging from microgenetics to super colliders. These researchers are funded by state, federal, and private sector sources representing a research investment exceeding $1 billion dollars per year.
By sharing products, techniques, and ideas developed at ORAU, technologies and knowledge are transferred to industry and universities, building a stronger regional and national economy.
More than 40 programs developed and managed by ORAU provide opportunities for staff from federal laboratories and students and faculty from universities to work together. These programs represent a comprehensive effort by ORAU to work together with educators and students at all levels.
In courses funded by DOE, ORAU, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and private industry, course participants work with the latest equipment and technologies used in radiation protection, health physics, and medical applications of radionuclides.
Other courses range from specialized employee training in probabilistic risk assessment to science "minimesters" for college students in the physical and life sciences. These courses, featuring well-equipped laboratories and expert instructors, offer participants hands-on experience relating directly to the participants' jobs or fields of study.
